Unblock request of Truth'soutthere

He's claiming to be collateral damage of your block of Homelessrobot (talk · contribs). Is he? Daniel Case (talk) 16:11, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

He looks like he's in fine standing and the IP itself appears to be widely shared. I'm just wondering how he made this edit one minute after requesting an unautoblock.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 16:48, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello, I love you

I want to be an administrator. How do I do that? 71.153.183.129 (talk) 00:57, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

The first step is to create an account. After that, gain yourself a good record which will convince other users that you can be trusted as an admin (this will take at least 6 months, and is much easier said than done), showing that you understand our policies and guidelines, and then you have a request for adminship(WP:RFA) - either someone else will nominate you, or you can nominate yourself. To have some idea what's expected, feel free to keep an eye on the votes at WP:RFA. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 10:41, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the update.

"Stinky socks," eh? What blows my mind is that the anon IP renders back to a freaking university! Might be time to contact the IT department over there and lower the boom on our little Pee-Wee. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:27, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Might be worth doing.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 02:30, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Done and done. Here's the best part: The abuse department immediately got back to me and they immediately forwarded my concern to the IT department at the school for further investigation! Drop me a talk page message or an e-mail if you'd like to learn more off-wiki. I can provide you with the contact info if you wish. I'm sure they'd appreciate your insight. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 06:15, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Question about an IP Block

Hey, I have a quick question about a block you just implemented on 173.21.233.91 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). The user's last edit was before I gave him a level 3 warning, but I thought accounts don't get blocked unless they vandalize after a level 4? I'm a bit new to this, so I was just curious. Thanks! SheepNotGoats (Talk) 02:19, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

It varies. I do not block an IP with a level 3 that has for example 3 edits. This fella didn't seem interested in quitting anytime soon and kept making subsequent vandal edits. So it seemed pretty cut and dry at that point. It is always encouraged though to leave a level 4 warning for a user before reporting them.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 02:22, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I see. Thanks for taking the time to explain. Cheers, SheepNotGoats (Talk) 02:27, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Snekurgizzards (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) A look at this guy's record indicates some reasonable edits and then a long span of inactivity followed by nothing but vandalism (including to my own page). That change in approach doesn't make much sense unless he either went nuts or his account was compromised. Since you won't block him, I'll be watching him for any further vandalism. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 06:53, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Yeah that sounds fine. I didn't want to jump the gun with this one.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 17:53, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Your diagram on dental anatomy is kinda messed up :S

I know you made it to be scrap-like but,the inferior second molars are the one to be marked with a "cruciform-like" fissure on the occlusal surfaces, and not the third molars 19:38, 6 December 2008 (UTC)~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.63.17.29 (talk)

Yeah I'm certainly no dentist, I just have experience with graphics design. So the third molar should not have a cross-like indentation you're saying? I've looked over several diagrams and all seem to have that cross-like indent on the third molar. How exactly would you describe it appears? Trust me I appreciate the help! Took me several tries with this diagram to get it right. I had extensive help from another Wikipedia administrator that worked in the medical field :).¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 19:35, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi! In relation to Rosemary Owens, while I agree the article was probably non-notable, it had already been through afd, (admittedly with a conclusion of no consensus), so I gather it isn't a candidate for CSD any more. That aside, I'm curious about User:Rosemary.owens.22, and plan to raise the account at WP:RFCN. That page was originally created by User:Rosemaryowens, who didn't seem to behave like a dean for a law school, but might have been. This second account didn't behave like a dean at all, but has a remarkably similar name. I'm guessing impersonation. - Bilby (talk) 00:44, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

It isn't really a prod which is the concern, but AfD. I really don't care much for the article, it's simply that once they've been through AfD and survived, I gather that CSD is no longer an option. Either way, I agree about User:Rosemary.owens.22's behaviour, and I would add that the original version of the article was also a tad odd. Not an attack page as such, but not what I would expect, so I was suspicious whether or not it was really created by the subject. I'd be really surprised if Rosemary.owens.22 proved to be the subject, though - that was very odd behaviour for a Dean. - Bilby (talk) 00:56, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Fair enough. Interestingly, that new account has the name of another [1] at the same law school - it looks like someone is impersonating lecturers, although I'm not sure to what end. Well, that or their standards have fallen since I was at that uni. :) - Bilby (talk) 01:02, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Rosemary Owens

I see that you speedy deleted Rosemary Owens under CSD A7. For your information, this page had survived a deletion discussion. A page which survives a deletion discussion shouldn't be deleted unless either there is a new discussion (AfD or DRV), or it turns out to be a copyright violation. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 11:40, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

George W Bush article

Hey

There is something very wrong with the article on George W Bush. Someone has altered it somehow and now it is irrelevant and obscene. Can you contact someone who can deal with this (i know it's not your area).

Thanks

--Andrew Winston (talk) 05:30, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject, or I happen to know personally).

I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.

If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!

If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.

Thank you and I hope to see you there! howcheng {chat} 00:44, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Dear Persion Poet Gal,

Could you please help me adapt my PRONicaragua page to a Wikipedia-accepted format?

This is the article:

ABOUT PRONicaragua

PRONicaragua is the official investment promotion agency of Nicaragua, established in 2002. It is a non-profit, public-private institution whose mission is to generate economic growth and job creation in Nicaragua by attracting high-quality foreign direct investment. To date, the agency has attracted over US$350 millions in FDI and contributed to the creation of 35,000 jobs, focusing on six areas of attraction: Agribusiness, Energy & Infrastructure, Light Manufacturing, Textiles & Apparel, Tourism and BPO. Its services include information packages, organizing site visits, facilitation services and aftercare services to qualified investors.

HISTORY

The idea to create a foreign direct investment promotion agency in Nicaragua was born during a strategy seminar organized by the Central American Institute for Business Administration (INCAE) in 2001, which resolved that establishing an investment promotion agency (IPA) ought to be a top priority for the Nicaraguan government. In August of 2002, Executive Decree Nº 75-2002, established the Special Commission for Investment Promotion, which was responsible for the creation of a new public-private investment promotion agency. Additionally, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the President of the Republic granted their support to the project by signing the UNDP Investment Promotion Support Project in November 2002. Work relations established with the Harvard Business School, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), and the UNDP, as well as assistance from the Government of Nicaragua, the private sector and international donors, helped shape PRONicaragua.

MIGA equipped the staff with the practical skills necessary to carry out promotional activities. It provided training in market research, targeting mechanisms, business-relationship building, effective presentation skills, best practices for road shows and trade fairs, assistance to potential investors, as well as resources and tools required for an effective investment promotion.

WAIPA AWARD 2006-2007

In comparative evaluations conducted in 2005 by the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) and the World Bank’s Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), PRONicaragua’s performance was rated much higher than the average performance of developing countries. As a result, PRONicaragua won the 2006-2007 WAIPA Award and was recognized as one of the top five investment promotion agencies in the world.

Chicken and Rice article has been recreated
