Bahamas results table

[edit]

Thanks for adding this in, but could I request that you don't use Visual Editor for adding tables to articles. Unfortunately Visual Editor leaves the code in a real mess (it bunches it all up and in no logical order), making it really hard for anyone who edits the normal way to make changes to the table. This is how the table appeared in the normal editor after being added by Visual Editor:

This is how it's usually laid out:

If you want to add tables, I'd really recommend switching to regular editor temporarily to do so. Cheers, Number 57 16:08, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Number of dead in Kazakhstan

[edit]

I checked the source (Al Jazeera), and nowhere is it said that the 164 refers only to protesters. As per the source, the health ministry is cited "A total of 164 people" were killed. I did however check the other source (AP) and it cited the ministry as saying "most" of the 164 dead were protesters. AP report also fruther states it is not actually clear if the 164 dead referred only to civilians or if security forces members were also included. Further, the source refers to the several killed children, which definitely cann't be categorized as protesters. So, I suggest, if you agree, until the situation becomes more clearer (breakdown between protesters, security and non-participating civilians), we unify the casualties under one column. Where it will be stated 164 people died (per the Ministry), most of which were protesters. But also state the 18 security forces members dead, which (as stated by AP) are possibly included in the 164 dead. The numbers of injured and arrested we also include in the column. When we get a clearer situation we separate them appropriately. EkoGraf (talk) 18:33, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your input in this post here. Can you please open an WP:RFC on your post to get more input from other editors, as it’s been a few months and got very little feedback? Cheers. Helper201 (talk) 22:35, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I will open one soon. BastianMAT (talk) 22:37, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Much appreciated. Helper201 (talk) 22:40, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, Helper201, so how do you want to do it? We could either tag the user involved in editing or an RFC. BastianMAT (talk) 13:17, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'd go with an RFC to get the most input as possible from other editors. It might also be a good idea to notify the people of Wikipedia:WikiProject France of the RFC too. Helper201 (talk) 12:45, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@BastianMAT When are you planning on opening this RFC? Helper201 (talk) 20:53, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I will when I have time, otherwise feel free to start one, and just tag me and I can share my opinion. BastianMAT (talk) 20:58, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@BastianMAT ok, cheers. I was just wondering. I would do so but I have started several in the last few weeks with very low response rates so I'm hoping someone else starting one this time might get more responses. Helper201 (talk) 21:04, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, can you please open an rfc for this - Talk:La République En Marche!#The grounds of removing centre-right - soon? Hello. I agree with you on the Rodrigo Chaves page. I think it should be protected from editing because various persons are spreading false information about a tribunal's decision involving him. I'd appreciate it if you could clarify the purpose of this edit. While the information apparently appears correctly in the infobox, the parameters are seemingly in a random order. Why are the parameters not arranged so that the first-listed candidate's information appears first, then the second-listed candidate's, etc.? Having the parameters scrambled makes this hard to edit. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 04:02, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That was due to visual editor, luckily I stopped using it and only use regular editor when changing the parameters as it otherwise screws it up. BastianMAT (talk) 21:32, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

La Libertad Avanza

[edit]

Hi, hope you're well! I occasionally go back to pages I've worked on recently to see if changes have been made so I can learn from mistakes. I saw that you mentioned vandalism and can't figure out if you're referring to my changes -- none of it was vandalism (all of the links were already there and I added a WP:CITEKILL tag bc it was a disgusting amount of refs that took me hours to wade through) and there were no radical changes (I added trans-title and language= but did not change any of the existing info). I'm also not a new account have more than 2k edits dating back to at least 2021. But my edits don't seem to be there anymore and nobody made significant additions/changes between me and you, so wanted to reach out. Thanks! Puppies937 (talk) 02:12, 2 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Puppies937:, thanks for coming here. There were dozens of errors and I'll explain some of them here, "anti-politics", "anti-kirchenism", "argentina state terrorism denial" are not considered ideologies here on English Wikipedia. Meanwhile anti-communism is WP:PRIMARY as its self-declared and nor does it mention that Libertad Avenza is explicitly anti-communist. A "song" is not enough to brand a party libertarian conservative. For libertarianism, one source is fine, but the rest are again self-declared and does not explicity say the party is a certain "ideology". "Ultra-right/Far-right" or "controversial/extreme" does not equal "ultra-conservative", and while one source (France24) says Millei is ultra-conservative, it doesn't brand Libertad Avenzad as ultra-conservative, we cannot assume a person equals the whole party. For Minarchism, Millei making statements about cutting off his arm, is for the first self declared and there is again no explicit mention of minarchism. For anti-establishment, one source says anti-system for Millei but not explicity the party, while the other source just says "the party entered congress". For CNN in right-wing populism, the source doesn't work. For anarchocapitalism, its Millei being described and not the party. For republicanism, there is no mention of the party representing a republican ideology and nationalism source only talks about Millei. So, that's your first problem, you NEED to use sources that describe the party and EXPLITCITLY mention an English Wikipedia recgonized ideology. No self-declared sources. Secondly, REMEMBER WP:OR, which means "Wikipedia articles must not contain original research. The phrase "original research" (OR) is used on Wikipedia to refer to material—such as facts, allegations, and ideas—for which no reliable, published sources exist.[a] This includes any analysis or synthesis of published material that serves to reach or imply a conclusion not stated by the sources. To demonstrate that you are not adding original research, you must be able to cite reliable, published sources that are directly related to the topic of the article and directly support[b] the material being presented." So preferably, you need to use scholarly work (university papers) or sources that are considered reliable in WP:RSP (BBC, Reuters, CNN, The Guardian etc), most sources (except CNN, ElPais and France24) are impossible to be verified. I appreciate your efforts and for reaching out, but you gotta think of these things when adding any ideology in an infobox, and if you are going to remake a page without WP:RS backed sources, I'd advice you to seek an consensus before as it might be WP:OR. Example: I want to make a change to Atassut! I will search up the party and its ideologies, and bingo! Reliable source Reuters explicitly describe them as liberal-conservative.[1] Feel free to ask any more questions! BastianMAT (talk) 15:56, 2 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! I appreciate your reply. Again, I was doing housekeeping/fixing CS1 errors/expanding the info in the refs, I didn't change existing information, add information, or move information around. The most I did was put each new "ideology on a new line so it wasn't just a wall of text. I looked at the comparison between my edits and the version before me and can see how you thought I added sources, because it shows I added lines - but when there's a big wall of text like that, I do have to move things around while editing so I can make sense of it. If you check any any of the sources, the placement, everything, it was all there before I started editing. I understand reliable sources vs unreliable sources and put this into practice when I'm adding information - which I always source - or if I'm checking/verifying sources but that's not what I was doing. I understand misunderstanding/misattributing edits - it's happened once before which is why I am explicit about what I was fixing. I added 3k bytes and you deleted 35k which is quite a difference. I appreciate the diligence in taking care of pages, I am just not the person you should be telling this all to! Puppies937 (talk) 17:46, 2 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well that is fine! No problem! BastianMAT (talk) 22:09, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding an edit on Folketing

[edit]

Hi BastianMAT :)

I recently saw that you deleted my edit on the Folketing page. The reason I made the edit was due to reliable sources claiming that the Danish Social Liberal Party has taken a position of non-alignment. I.e. DR and TV2.

I have looked on the Folketing website and have not found any information about the party being an opposition party. It's very possible that I've just not looked at the right place, but I am bit baffled about why folketinget is stating they are an opposition party when other sources claim they are neither or support.

I've seen a lot of edits around that party on the page, so to prevent edit wars, I wanted to ask you if you could direct to me the place where you found the information, and I'll have a look at it to try to understand why the official site is contradicting most media.

Have a nice evening, cheers thomediter :) Thomediter (talk) 22:00, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Thomediter:, hope you're well, it is actually stated that they are an official government party. The government established Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy lists them as opposition per "Following the elections of 2022, the Social Liberal Party are in opposition to the centre coalition government".[2] If you want any news article confirming this, here is one from The Local that also lists them as opposition, per "Two opposition parties, the left-wing Red Green Alliance (Enhedslisten) and centre-left Social Liberals (Radikale Venstre) recently called limitations on foreing students “stupid” and “crazy” in comments to broadcaster DR."[3]. So thank you when you have reverted your edit, also just a heads up even if it was different, we should avoid what the "party considered itself as its WP:PRIMARY, meaning not an independent source of information.[4] Have a great day! Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:58, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
